Day 12 of #RPGaDay2024
RPG with well supported campaigns
I don't really know enough about this to give an educated answer. Call of Cthulhu first came to mind because I'm aware of its well regarded published campaigns like Masks of Nyarlathotep.
It's also the longest ongoing game I've been involved with but, arguably, i've spent most of that time playing a string of unrelated adventures. Even the Shadows of Yog-Sothoth campaign feels a bit like that, although I could well be speaking too soon.
The obvious answer would be Dungeons & Dragons in all its forms and, by extension, any system that's remotely compatible.
I'm aware Tuesday Night Games’ Mothership has a wealth of supporting campaign material but I still haven't played it.
The same goes for Free League's Forbidden Lands, a game designed specifically for campaign play, as I'm sure many other games are.
In fact, one of the few games that I have experienced at campaign level for a significant period of time is David Black's Black Hack, a game I've seen characterised as being only suitable for short term play.
But the prompt specifically says "well supported campaigns" which suggests it's the quality of the campaign material as opposed to the system (I realise I inadvertently reworded yesterday's prompt so it made more sense to me).
So, speaking as a player, I'm going with Call of Cthulhu’s campaign material for the wonderful handouts.
