I've already spoken a couple of times about the joy of being able to play in Andy “Grizzly Peaks Radio” Goodman’s Call of Cthulhu games but I've not mentioned the wonderful folks I've had the pleasure of playing with.
I began playing these sessions as part of a team referred to as “The Old Farts” despite only one of our characters being particularly old.
This first incarnation of the group included such luminaries as Scott Dorward of The Good Friends of Jackson Elias, Colin Green of Spikepit, and Barney Dicker of Loco Ludos.
Our first couple of adventures were from the pages of White Dwarf, starting with Jon Sutherland’s The Watchers of Walberswick from issue 50.
Having all survived a very fishy seaside encounter with inhabitants of Walberswick, we hightailed it south, out of Suffolk and across the Thames to investigate The Surrey Enigma. This next adventure was written by Marcus L. Rowland and appeared in issue 69 of White Dwarf.
It was here that we had a very memorable encounter. Not with an eldritch entity or even fanatical cult member. This was an encounter with the Famous Five.
Calamitous aristocrat Sir Hector Rigby-Ickwell took umbridge with thier xenophobia and decided to kick Julian in the shins. Barney rolled a critical success causing Sir Hector to break the targets knee. He was immediately attacked by their dog Timmy. Timmy also rolled a crit, ripping Sir Hector’s throat out, killing him instantly.
Sanity checks all round.
